Marge Carmona Education Scholarships

The Bonnell Foundation scholarship program honors the memory of Marge Carmona.

Congratulations to our 2016 Scholarship Recipients!

Srivas T.

“I just want to thank the Bonnell Foundation for choosing me as one of the recipients of this wonderful scholarship. I’m thrilled to be a scholarship recipient and this only further inspires me to work harder to accomplish my goals, despite living with Cystic Fibrosis. With this scholarship, I can continue to work towards earning a B.S in Computer Science, and strive to earn a Master’s Degree in Computer Security. Thanks Bonnell Foundation, for providing me and countless of others with CF, the opportunity and support to fight this illness and not have to sacrifice our dreams in the process.”

Alyssa H.

Penn Foster College
“I would like to thank the Bonnell Foundation for choosing me as one of the 2016 scholarship recipients. I cant even begin to describe how deeply appreciative I am that there is such a foundation of loving caring human beings to help make people like me living with Cystic Fibrosis achieve their dreams. I’ve had to over come many struggles throughout my life including keeping up with my education while being ill. You however have made continuing my education towards becoming a veterinary technician within my reach when I thought for a moment maybe it wouldnt be. My love for animals and helping others is what I strive for. So thank you so much again to The Bonnell Foundation, this means the world.”

Grace K.

University of Pennsylvania
“I am so grateful to the Bonnell Foundation for awarding me this fantastic scholarship. It is hard living with CF, but with the help of others the burden is lightened. I truly believe that sharing and working with others strengthens us. This is why I am so thankful for the Bonnell Foundation. They are giving people just like me the power to succeed and face CF.  I cannot wait to continue my education at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. I plan to study English and eventually hope to become a lawyer. While CF is a huge part of my life, it does not define who I am. I love to play the violin, swim, and run. I cannot wait for college and with this scholarship I feel confident that I will be able to conquer my classes, hobbies, dreams, and, of course, CF.”

Sophie B.

Arizona State University
“It is truly an honor to be chosen by the Bonnell Foundation for the Marge Carmona Education Scholarship andI am incredibly grateful for this generous gift.  I am also very thankful for all the donors who make the scholarships possible. Mine will be going towards tuition and books as I begin my freshman year at Arizona State University with the goal of majoring in psychology with  a minor in biology, followed by medical school.  Living with cystic fibrosis  can be difficult but I am excited for the future and refuse to let this disease define or limit me.  I choose to live surrounded by friends and family who provide much love and support and feel the future is bright and the sky is the limit. Thank you for this award, it is greatly appreciated!”

William W.

Bucknell University
“Thank you Bonnell Foundation! I am both honored and grateful for this very generous scholarship to help offset college costs. I am 18 years old and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at 5 months old. I recently graduated from an honors high school with an A average, played on the lacrosse team, was president of the Technology Student Association, and got my Eagle Scout rank all while trying to maintain my health the best that I could because when you have CF you’re a fighter and know you can do anything! Now I am attending Bucknell University majoring in mechanical engineering and plan on continuing to play lacrosse as well as be involved in many clubs on campus. I’ve worked really hard to get to this point and this scholarship helps to alleviate additional stress that college costs can create. Thank you again for this generous award!”

Briana B.

University of Louisville
“Thank you so much Bonnell Foundation for selecting me for the Margaret Carmona Scholarship. As I continue my educational journey at the University of Louisville to become a doctor, it is both a blessing and an honor to be a recipient of this scholarship.  Both school and having Cystic Fibrosis have their daily challenges, and it is reassuring to know the Bonnell Foundation is dedicated to the growth and support of us.  Thank you, and I pray someday I am able to support, promote and be as influential in the betterment of other Cystic Fibrosis patients as you all have been for me.”

Maggie S.

Indiana University
“I am very grateful to be a recipient of the Marge Carmona Education Scholarship! This Scholarship allows for people with Cystic Fibrosis to strive to live a normal life and pursue their dreams and ambitions. I truly admire how this Foundation recognizes the determination and drive that people with Cystic Fibrosis have. It is truly important that people living this this disease have the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest. My family and I cannot thank the Bonnell family enough for all that they have done and continue to do!”

Justin K.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
“Thank you very much for awarding me this scholarship!  I will be majoring in Business Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.  I took 8 marketing classes in high school, and look forward to beginning my next step in business education.  My long-term goal is to be a Chief Marketing Officer of a large company.  Of course, all work and no play is no fun!  I have already joined an intramural sand volleyball team and I am captain of an intramural basketball team.  I am also eager to continue my band career with the Phighting Phoenix Pep Band.  My goal is to graduate from college with zero debt, and your generosity will greatly help me achieve this.”

Ben K.

Hillsdale College
“I am beyond grateful to the Foundation to be awarded this scholarship as it will tremendously help me in completing my goals of furthering my education. I am currently attending Hillsdale College working to pursue a Business Marketing major. This award has not only helped me pursue my own goals but will also help to set goals for those after me. In the CF community pain and hardships often cast an overbearing shadow. But it is through these great works by The Bonnell Foundation and all those who help with it that hope may break free to show what good things can come from hard work and perseverance.”

Kelcey B.

San Diego State University
“Living with CF is not easy and paying for CF is a challenge itself. I am so grateful to be a recipient of the Bonnell Foundatjon Scholarship. This money will allow me to further continue my education at San Diego State University as an Applied Communications major. Thank you to the people who make these opportunities possible and for showing your love towards every person with CF. I look forward to the day CF no longer stands for ‘Cystic Fibrosis’ but rather ‘Cure Found.’”
