DESCRIPTION:May is National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month in the United States. Join thousands of others across the country to raise awareness of CF and what life is like with the disease that affects more than 30\,000 people in the United States. \nCystic Fibrosis (CF) affects more than just the lungs. This genetic disease causes constant lung infections\, but it also impacts other organs in the body where mucus builds up. \nWhile there is still no cure for CF\, advancements in treatment have made it possible for those with CF to live much longer than ever before. However\, they live under the risk of infection and health problems due to CF. A cure is still needed. \nAttend an event near you this month.  Whether it’s a fundraiser or an informational clinic\, every opportunity to help eliminate CF will increase the quality of life for those who born with it.

DESCRIPTION:Join us once again as we invite you to the 18th annual Margaret Carmona Classic which will take place Friday\, September 14\, 2018. Our friends at Huntmore Golf Club* turn the entire course over to our fundraising efforts with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start\, lunch and steak dinner. \nAs many of you know\, last year “Big” Lee Carmona (aka Pa) passed suddenly.  This devastating loss has strengthened our resolve to help families enjoy the time they have together.  We will be paying tribute to Pa\, with a special video presentation.  As we honor Pa and Margie’s commitment to helping others we hope that you will please join us.  The golf outing was one of Pa’s (and Margie’s) favorite days.  We are convinced it will be one of yours as well. \nThe Bonnell Foundation was founded to specifically assist families dealing with the fight against CF. Medications\, doctor visits and education are all financial hurdles families with CF face. Our Margaret Carmona Academic Scholarship assists CF students across our country to achieve their dream of attending college. Our Lung Transplant Fund has established itself as a great resource to families who face the more difficult challenge of having a lung transplant.  It is this direct assistance to families that was Margie’s dream and with your generosity it has become reality. \nThe cost of the outing is $150 per golfer (fair market tax deduction=$75) and there are additional sponsorship opportunities. DESCRIPTION:Margaret Carmona was a Cystic Fibrosis patient dedicated to assisting others. She served the Metro-Detroit chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raising money to help in the battle against CF. For the Love of Marge was Margie’s idea to gather with friends and family in a wedding type environment and raise funds to help others. Margie lost her battle to the disease in 2006 but her dream now lives on with this family fun event that helps to warm the winter months. Started in 2007\, this event showcases Margie’s spirit of love and friendship as we gather to have fun\, enjoy each other’s company and raise funds for The Bonnell Foundation. The Bonnell Foundation continues to expand its outreach to Cystic Fibrosis families by doubling the number of Margaret Carmona academic scholarships\, continuing its generous support of The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and dramatically increasing its Angel Fund which covers basic needs often not covered by other services. Our friends at Huntmore Golf Club* turn the entire course over to our fundraising efforts with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start\, lunch and steak dinner. \nThe Bonnell Foundation was founded to specifically assist families dealing with the fight against CF. Medications\, doctor visits and education are all financial hurdles families with CF face. Our Margaret Carmona Academic Scholarship assists CF students across our country to achieve their dream of attending college; this year we awarded 20 scholarships\, raising our total to nearly 200. Our Lung Transplant Fund has established itself as a great resource to families who face the more difficult challenge of having a lung transplant. It is this direct assistance to families that was Margie’s dream and with your generosity it has become reality.  \nIn 2001\, Margie started The Carmona Classic with the hopes of raising money to help people battle Cystic Fibrosis. Margie would have turned 40 this year and we are sure of one thing: she would still be working hard to help others. It was her spirit and kindness that set her apart and is the hallmark of this golf outing. SUMMARY:2015 Margaret Carmona Classic
DESCRIPTION:The 15th annual Margaret Carmona Classic will take place on Friday the 18th of September\, 2015. Once again we will be golfing at the Huntmore Golf Club with a 10:30 shotgun start. We invite you to join us as we continue this tradition that puts the fun in fundraising. The Carmona family has raised well over $500\,000  to battle Cystic Fibrosis over the years.    \nThe Bonnell Foundation is growing a national reputation for assisting families living with Cystic Fibrosis. Our Margaret Carmona Academic Scholarships now assist students across our country to achieve their dream of attending college. Last year we awarded 20 scholarships to students across the county. We continue to work with the University of Michigan and Detroit Children’s hospitals; providing guidance and resources to families in need. Our ongoing partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has leveraged our donations through “match funding” to double our donating power. Our Angel Fund has established itself as a great resource to families; aiding in so many unique ways with the unexpected difficulties of living with CF. It is this direct assistance to families that was Margie’s dream and with your generosity it has become reality. \nIn Margie’s spirit of kindness and helping others\, we hope you can join us for another great day of family\, friends and fun. \nREGISTRATION\nThe cost of the outing is $150 per golfer (fair market tax deduction=$75) and there are additional sponsorship opportunities mentioned in the following section. Donations are tax-deductible at fair market value. \nBecause of health risks to people with cystic fibrosis (CF)\, individuals with CF who have had confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend events sponsored by the Bonnell Foundation. This policy is necessary because B. cepacia is contagious to individuals with CF. B. cepacia can be transmitted through casual contact or close proximity with infected individuals. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and\, in some patients\, may result in rapid decline in lung function\, possibly leading to death. While this policy should reduce the risk of B. cepacia cross infection\, there still might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a known health risk to individuals without CF who are otherwise healthy.
